  • What do I wear for my first training session?
For your first session, you can wear comfortable athletic clothes like a T-shirt and shorts (no zippers or pockets). If you don’t have a gi (BJJ uniform), don’t worry—borrow one from us for free!
  • Can I bring a friend?
Yes! Feel free to bring a friend. If they decide to join and make a membership, both you and your friend will receive 50 CHF off your next payments. Training is always more fun with a buddy!
  • What if I feel scared or nervous about starting?
That’s completely normal, and we understand! Our gym is beginner-friendly, and everyone here remembers their first day. Our instructors and teammates are here to support you every step of the way.
  • I’m not in shape—can I still start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
Absolutely! BJJ is for everyone, no matter your current fitness level. It’s a fantastic workout that helps you burn calories, build strength, and improve cardio. You’ll get into shape as you train.
  • Can I borrow a gi for my first class?
Yes! We provide loaner gis for beginners so you can try out a class without worrying about buying gear upfront.
  • What should I bring with me to class?
Bring a water bottle, comfortable clothing, and a great attitude! If you’d like to use your own mouthguard for safety, feel free to bring that too.
  • Do you have a weights gym?
Yes, we do! We have a fully equipped weights gym available with a separate membership for just 300 CHF a year. If you’re interested, speak to our staff to combine this with your BJJ membership for a great deal.
  • How do I book a class?
Simply visit our website or social media and shoot us a message. You can also call or drop by in person, and we’ll get you set up.
  • Can I train if I have no martial arts experience?
Of course! Most of our students start with no prior experience. Our beginner classes are designed to teach you the basics in a friendly and structured way.
  • What if I leave something behind?
If you forget something at the gym, we keep a lost-and-found box at the front desk. Let us know, and we’ll help you retrieve your items.
  • What are the membership options?
We offer flexible memberships, including monthly, half-yearly, yearly, and drop-in rates. Ask our staff for details or visit our website for the latest offers or consult: https://www.bjjwaedenswil.ch/pricing
  • Can I pause my membership?
Yes, you can pause your membership for up to 3 weeks per year at no additional cost. Contact our staff or manage your membership online to activate a pause.
  • What are the benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
BJJ is more than just a martial art—it builds confidence, improves fitness, sharpens your mind, and helps reduce stress. Plus, it’s a great way to meet new friends and be part of a community.
  • What if I’m not flexible?
Flexibility isn’t a requirement to start BJJ! Over time, your flexibility will naturally improve with training. Many students are surprised by their progress.
  • Can kids train too?
Yes! Kids’ classes are held every Monday and Friday from 6:00–7:00 PM. Judo classes are also available through Budoschule Wädenswil, and we offer discounted cross-training options due to our collaboration. Memberships for judo are handled separately, but we’d be happy to sit down with you to discuss how to coordinate the arrangement for the best experience for your child.
  • How long is a class?
Our classes typically run for 60–90 minutes. This includes a warm-up, technique instruction, drilling, and optional sparring at the end.
  • Do I need special shoes?
Nope! BJJ is practiced barefoot. Just make sure your feet are clean before stepping on the mats.
  • Can I watch a class before joining?
Of course! Feel free to come by and watch a class to see what training is like. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions while you observe.
